I saw the demolition the earthquake caused on Mount Everest in Nepal. Wondering if the graveyard (Karl Henize) was destroyed.

Given the extensive damage to the base camp, the ongoing search for victims and the threat posed by aftershocks, I think it may be some time (if at all) when someone will have the chance or wherewithal to check on the final resting places on Mt. Everest.

I think that climbing Everest again wont happen until its proven safe again. The currently established routes have probably been altered.

I doubt the terrible tragedy will deter climbers from coming (or returning) to Everest. Even the events of 1996 when weather, not an avalanche, took many lives, it did not stop hundreds from summiting since then. Human nature, and ambition, lives on.

Even former astronaut Scott Parazynski lists 'Everest climber' on his official website, and has a picture of himself on the summit, reached after his second attempt. I'm sure others will follow in his boot steps.

All times are CT (US)
