Astronaut in 'Jeopardy!': Mark Kelly to join celebrities on game show

His twin brother currently on a year-long mission on the space station, this former NASA astronaut is set to compete on Celebrity Jeopardy! in May.

Who is Mark Kelly?

Jeopardy!, the long-running television game show hosted by Alex Trebek, has revealed that Kelly will be among the 15 of America's favorite stars vying to win $50,000 for the charity of their choice. Celebrity Jeopardy! is scheduled to air May 11 through 15.

Kelly, who retired from NASA in 2011, is a veteran of four space shuttle missions to the International Space Station. His fourth spaceflight in May 2011 was as commander of orbiter Endeavour's final mission, the second-to-last during the 30-year shuttle program.

'What is Pluto?' How astronaut Mark Kelly fared on Celebrity Jeopardy!

The astronaut who led the second-to-last space shuttle mission placed second-to-first on "Celebrity Jeopardy!," finishing behind a professional football star on Tuesday's show (May 12).

Mark Kelly, who retired from NASA in 2011 after four trips to space including commanding shuttle Endeavour's final mission, lost out to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Kevin O'Leary, "Mr. Wonderful" on ABC's "Shark Tank," finished in third.

"Jeopardy made flying a rocket look easy!" Kelly wrote on Twitter.

I immediately thought of Harley and Davidson once it said "bike." Can't believe he didn't know about Ceres either, it's very much a current event in newspapers.

Gregory Peck was a good guy, though limiting it to two autographs apiece,
awesome voice!

Pittsburgh native, "Spock", Zachary Quinto will be on this week as well, hope they put in a sci-fi category.

It's as if after retiring from NASA his interest/knowledge of current events in space just kind of shut down.

I don't know if Mark didn't know Ceres or not (I've certainly had my fair share of brain burps when being filmed for TV, and that wasn't with the pressure of it being a game show) but I know that he does keep up with developments in space exploration. He is, after all, actively involved in at least two space projects.
