Loss of life is to be mourned, but only if the life was wasted.

When I was a kid, "Star Trek" got me hooked on space. Spock was my favorite of all the original series/movie cast because as a nerd I could relate to being different, an outsider looking in. No matter how many reboots there are of Star Trek, there will only be one Spock, and that was Leonard Nimoy. Rest In Peace.

Thank you for bringing my childhood friend to life. If not for Spock, I often wonder if a science and space loving kid like me would have survived my grade school and bullies. Spock and Star Trek gave the hope that the future would be better than the present.

Nathan Fillion captured my feelings perfectly in his tweet: "I have been and shall always be your fan."

LLAP. Mr Nimoy.

Every week during the 1970s and early 80s, I eagerly awaited every episode of Star Trek. Mostly this was because of Mr. Spock - the Vulcan ears, the raised eyebrow and the camaraderie with his 'Enterprise' colleagues were just a few of the great nuances of his character.

Leonard Nimoy provided brilliant escapism and entertainment to me and many others on this planet. Rest In Peace Mr Nimoy.

Hope, idealism and understanding is what Star Trek offered, which the space programme's of today aspire towards. The characterisation of Mr. Spock is all the more memorable since Mr. Nimoy had no contemporary references to draw from. It was mostly him...

I always loved Mr. Spock's logic. My favorite Star Trek episode is "The Omega Glory."

I had the pleasure of meeting Leonard Nimoy and seeing him perform in a one man performance of the artist Vincent Van Gogh. (He was as captivating as Richard Burton was.)

Mr. Nimoy, by my standards, did more to inspire more people to challenge the current and future human condition. Not to mention he had no problems signing whatever you wanted signed. Mr. Nimoy was patient and kind to all dozen of us in a non-public event/place.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, the one. RIP, I wonder if some of his ashes, if that's the way he chose, shall join him the way of The Final Frontier.

Leonard Nimoy was primarily responsible for the hand gesture of the Vulcan greeting adopted by humans.

This photo is very fitting tribute to Mr. Nimoy in more than one way as the part of the earth seen just to the right of the LLAP is the Boston/eastern Massachusetts/Cap Cod area. Mr. Nimoy was originally from Cambridge, MA (across the Charles River from Boston).

"Of all the souls I have encountered.. his was the most human." Thx @TheRealNimoy for bringing Spock to life for us.

I'm confused. NASA Watch mentions "altered image". Is it because of the shirt and/or the sign?

The original is not altered. The version NASA Watch is referring to is here.
