Fellow cSers, would you like to join me in helping support the future engineers interested in space exploration? I am appealing to all my space friends on behalf of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) Engingeering Department's "Moonbuggy Team" that will be competing again at the annual NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge in Huntsville.I met this wonderful group of dedicated and passionate space enthusiasts at the SIUC Museum opening exhibit of my space artifact collection (see picture of me with the team on their crowd funding site below). They graciously agreed to have their award winning designed and hand built Moon Buggy from the 2014 competition on display with the exhibit. Last year, the team ranked their highest ever — coming in second and third in the 2014 NASA Rover Challenge. The prior year, they ranked seventh, but won the Neil Armstrong design award. I am just blown away by the team's passion, and dedication to excellence. As an independent student organization, the team is 100% privately funded by donations from family, friends, faculty, alumni, and private folks who are interested in the future of space exploration, design, and encouraging the next generation. The team has just started a crowd funding site to try and raise the money they need to compete again in Huntsville. I am making a donation tonight. Will you please consider visiting the site and consider joining me? No donation is too small — every dollar counts to help this team make the trip and try to make their dreams come true for the team. They even have a $1 donation category. To learn more and to (possibly) donate, please check out their Indie Go Go Crowdfunding site. THANK YOU! |

I have 4 space shuttle flown bookmarks available for the first 4 cSers who donate to the crowd funding campaign at the "Mission Control" level ($40) and email me the confirm and your mailing address. Easy to tell the pecking order, as there are currently zero donations at that level. I have STS-131, 132, and 2x 134 (different designs) available. First donate, first choice on the bookmarks. Thanks for considering! And if you can't donate, please do consider using the widgets on the site to share it with your network via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc. Spreading the word also helps. Thanks. |

I have four Edgar Mitchell signed b&w 8x10 NASA PR photos of the lunar surface from Apollo 14 available as a gift for any cSer who donates at the "Engineer" level ($50). One photo per donation at this level. Photo of my choice (all about the same in terms of interest/uniqueness). Please email me with your email donation receipt and address to send the signed photo, and it is yours. Will email when all are claimed. Will post when all are gone. THANKS! |
