Alan/AJ -thanks for your comments.I know Bobby was very seriously ill. His wife commented on the cost of medical care/lack of insurance, but I would happily have helped with a voluntary contribution and I know the space community would have helped out — if this had been requested. Sequestering my funds without asking, however, is theft. It's a shame that circumstances like these can force good people to behave badly. |

Well said Paul. This hobby is often based on trust, co-operation and relying upon the reputation and good will of others. When that trust is violated it leaves a rather sour taste for all and hurts the hobby. Someone else's money is just that, no matter the circumstances — and I feel sorry for the circumstances they face caused by this accident — the money in question is yours and should be repaid. |

Apologies for the update but this has been a salutary lesson in wrongly trusting someone.Bobby has had $1500 of my money for nearly 2 years now, claiming to have been injured in a car accident as the excuse for not repaying. In February he agreed to repay from April over 5 months. I have had nothing, despite knocking $250 off what he owes me. An internet search for "Bobby Slice" not only reveals interesting facts (and official photos) about his extra-curricular activities, but his pool-cleaning company was advertising for business despite his injuries. I now doubt any of the story about his traffic accident that he and his wife managed to spin up. I guess we've all been duped. I will now resort to legal action in Lee County, Fl. If anyone out these has the ability to help me claim, given my remoteness from the US, I'd appreciate off-list contact. Many thanks, — Paul |

This hopefully is a rare case in our usually honest space member community. |

In all my years/decades of working with space collectors and dealers worldwide, the name of Bobby Slice was never familiar to me in any circles. Was he a popular space collector, a member of cS, and known to others as a good-standing or reputable person? Honestly, I never heard of him beforehand. | |
