Is there any sort of "UK" based group, or list of members? It might be nice if we all knew where the others were, I am Devon/Somerset border, just off the M5. I would welcome any passing enthusiasts for a cup of tea and a chat |

Hi There,Well, in answer to your question, the fact is we are based all over the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Iam from the Isle of Man. The main places where we all seem to meet up is either at these Autographica Shows at the Radisson Hotel Heathrow, or at other conventions were astronauts are appearing. It is very nice of your good self to ask about a meeting, think you might find via this website, by what members postings say, that way you will find where they live. Someone may like to do this. Thanks for your offer, best wishes, welcome new member, hope to hear more from you. We all are very good friends, even the members from Europe or the USA .I have some great friends I have made over the years. regards from Brenda [I live within view of the Douglas sea-front] [Edited by november25 (November 07, 2006).] |

Hi Poofacio (do you have a real name?),There's no official group but there must be at least 12 of us who meet up regularly at Autographica or BIS events and I know at least another half dozen whom I've never met but have corresponded with. In the past we have gathered for the Dave Scott booksigning in Oxford or the Neil Armstrong dinner in Dublin, as examples. Hoping to see a few of the usual suspects at the STS-121 event in December. Trouble is you only recognise the people you've met before, not the new ones. Paul Bramley London NW |

Hi Paul, of course I have, it is David Worrow. I have been collecting space for years but been too busy to get involved much in the "social side" |

David,Can I suggest you take a look at the European Grab Bag II thread? There are already six people in the UK on the flightpath. If you want to join in you could be added just after Ken. Chris |

Hi David,Welcome to the ranks of the UK 'members' of Collectspace. I think you will find most collectors on this side of the pond post here from time to time. We are a friendly bunch and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and parts of the UK. I am the only collector in Leeds I know of (If there is someone else please get in touch!) As Paul has mentioned previously we tend to meet up at special events throughout the country, the next 'major' get together will probably be at the STS-121 crew appearances in late November, early December. When we get the chance we like to meet up and talk space as well as having the odd pint! Collectspace does have a directory of members which can be accessed by country so you might find another local there. Some UK members also have web pages which you can find via the 'Websites' page on Collectspace. Hope to meet you at some time and welcome you personally to the 'Usual Suspects' Cheers Steve |

It's a bit early to set any plans in stone, but we should all try to make a point of meeting on the Saturday of Autographica next March. |

The "grab bag" is a way of passing on extras from your collection to others and maybe picking up a few interesting bits and pieces for yourself along the way. When the bag reaches you it's full of all sorts of stuff put in there by your fellow collectors. You take out some things that interest you and put in some things you think might be interesting to others, then you send it on to the next person in the chain. |

I'm a Collectspace member rather than a collector as such. (Well, I have four autographs, one of which is even from an astronaut...) But I live in Oxford and would certainly be interested in meeting up with fellow space enthusiasts if anyone else happened to be in the area. |

So far I haven't able to do so much meeting up with fellow UK members as Autographica's have an uncanny habit of being on the same weekend as a family party or wedding. I have met a few of the UK gang and hope that this autographica there will be some lectures where I can meet a few more. David, I know from experience that the UK collectors (well everyone on CS really) are a helpful bunch and will always try to help one another out. So we look forward to reading more posts from you nad hearing about your collecting experiences. Adam (in Essex) |

Hi David,Good to see you have joined collectSPACE.... and welcome to the largest online community of space-geeks anywhere . As most of the guys have mentioned, most of us tend to meet up at Autographica for a pint and a chat about our hobby. Everyone I've met so far have been fantastic and you can be sure you will always find at least one person who will be able to help you with whatever you need help with... whether that be carrying something to another show to be signed or even just sharing addresses/images and information. It's a great group of people and I'm sure you will have fun with this forum. I'm one of 6 members/collectors (that I know of) that live in Scotland... four of which live in the Aberdeen area... must be something to do with the oil or something as they seem to have all the money . Kind regards, Derek |

Gents & Ladies:I can vouch for David, good chap I've been emailing with for some time. David, the UK bunch are - how do they say it - "diamond geezers". The most fun I've had in this community is when I came to Autografica and hung out with the European contingent. |
