Might I ask, in lieu of putting a moratorium (for a week, a month??) on the sale of any STS-107 related items, exactly what amount or percentage of money by Ebay (as opposed to any other corporation or wealthy individual) would satisfy anyone who believes they SHOULD be turning over their "fair share" of ill-gotten gains to the proper charities?-Chet |

Anyone or any other entity in addition to Ebay? And why not 33%, or 50%? Why not 75%? And why only STS-107 items, since it seems other Shuttle related items are "spiking" as well?-Chet |

Saying they should give up 20% (or more, or less) is just haggling over the pimp's percentage. It's either appropriate or it's not (it's not) and it's either legal or it's not (it is). This is too emotional here to even leave room for meaningful discussion. I'll check back later. Ad Astra Per Aspera.

"I mean even a “secretary” is worth millions and eBay has decided to profit even further from this tragedy. Simply disgusting!"I think that in this case "secretary" is referring to a high-ranking board member. Jonathan |

Of course, haggling over a percentage or a dollar amount for Ebay to fork over is beside the point. Do I think it'd be great if Ebay wanted to make such a gesture? Of course. SHOULD they? SHOULD they be EXPECTED to? If their behavior is truly "disgusting", as some have suggested, those holding that opinion can simply choose to have nothing more to do with Ebay. That's the best way to protest. I just think sweeping generalizations are unhelpful and unnecessary here; Ebay's business practices are far from villainous.-Chet

Rodina/Andrew, Columbia was fitted with black thermal protection tiles on the narrow part of each upper wing surface. The black tiles stopped at the point where the wings broadened out. No other shuttle was fitted with black tiles in that way, and it made Columbia instantly recognizable when viewed from above. |
