This is about Lot 120 in the Aurora Auction.

Maybe someone here can answer this for me: I was under the impression that while Ed White was training for Gemini IV that his Air Force rank was Major. Over the years, I have seen a number of items autographed "Capt/USAF". Can someone tell me why a person would sign a lower rank for an autograph? I think he was promoted to Lt. Col. after the flight.

This is not the only photo of Ed White that I have seen this inscription on. It has just always raised a red flag to me when I have seen it. I hope someone here could clear up the question for me.

Thank you,

Leon
