In the picture of Charlie Duke at Plum Crater with the rover in the background, what is the bright spot above the horizon?

Lens flare. The sun was just above the frame.

I have an awesome panorama of this scene at Plum Crater on my home office wall and the sun flare is a very interesting feature of the whole sweeping scene.
