Does anyone have a photo of the Apollo lunar module mockup that was completed on Sept. 16, 1963? I have a zippo with an engraving commemorating that mockup completion but cannot seem to find a photo of it.

Which one? The B&W photo is dated September 1963. The color one is from 1964.

Thank you! It is the top one and it matches the engraving on my lighter. I'll post a photo of it later today.

Are those astronauts in front of the mockup in the first photo? Tom Stafford (on left)? Pete Conrad (with bag on right)?

Stafford and Conrad is right. I think the other guy looks like White, but it's not him. Schirra, Lovell and See were also present.

Ed, somewhere I've seen a photo of White (?) dangling on the end of a hoist exiting a LM mock-up before they decided it wasn't practical and opted to have a ladder instead. Do you have it?

There's some video of that on the Moon Machines DVD. The ladder was an obvious, but maybe not back then, much like the expanse of glass on LM models prior to that / those dates.

That might be Wally Schirra at top right.

Ed, would you have any photos available of astronaut See with the M-5 mockup (color photo you previously posted) at the Grumman plant? Thank you!

All times are CT (US)
