I am launching a new website - ApolloLaunchControl.com - to document my research into the Firing Rooms at the KSC Launch Control Center. At present, it focuses on Apollo through ASTP, but I'll be adding sections on Mercury, Gemini, and Shuttle as I have time.

For now, it's a lot of pictures. I'll be filling in details, including detailed descriptions and locations of Firing Room equipment. I also will be adding videos and photo how-to's on restoration of vintage equipment. I'll also include vintage context photos and copies of period publications.

If you own a control panel (or part of one) from the Apollo era, I would like to add a photo of it to the collection. If you'll send me a high-res photo of the face of the panel, that would be appreciated. In return, I'll try to locate your panel on a historical photo of the Firing Room, or at least show you generally where it would have been.

I welcome your comments, suggestions, and feedback. Please use the email link above or on the site. Now that I have retired, I can devote much more time and energy to this labor of love!

Jonathan

Incredible project Jonathon.

The website looks great and I enjoyed my first pass through. I'll be back later to linger a bit longer.

Update this weekend: new period photos of the Firing Rooms, badges from the Sawchuck Collection, Ground Support Equipment control panels and data recorders.

Next weekend's update will include identifications and locations of more than 40 specific control panels and functions on the Firing Room floor!

Thanks for all the feedback and photos - I'm always looking for photos of anything you have related to this topic.

Another major update this week, with a "Spotter's Guide" to identifying control panels in the Firing Room. Also included is a comprehensive list by location of the 48 control panels that I have been able to positively identify to date in photos of the Apollo-era Firing Rooms.
