While doing some research for curiosity sake I have come upon a question: On Apollo 15 it appears that the antenna on Jim Irwin's PLSS is missing in pictures during EVA 2 and 3. It does appear in EVA 1 pictures. Did he damage it after EVA 1 or just not deploy it?

(The antenna on the PLSS is flat rather than round and was secured during flight in the down position against the top of the PLSS.) If it was damaged or not deployed how was communication after the damage/non-deployment?

According to this website, Jim's antenna broke at the base when he was re-entering the LM after EVA 1. Dave Scott duct taped it horizontally on the top of Jim's PLSS for future EVAs.

That was a great question, Fred. I'm sure I must have read about that a long time ago but had since forgot. It inspired me to go back and look at the photos from the mission again and read some of the transcripts. What a great mission that was!!
