I am a fan of collectSPACE and wanted to ask the community about NASA media guidelines:Is it possible to make reprints of NASA Apollo photos (or of new probe Perseverance) and sell them on eBay or in a gallery? I have seen quite a lot of these reproductions on eBay and also on a photo gallery. Is it allowed? Reading the guidelines (I am not an expert) it seems like it is possible. What is your point of view? |

Most NASA photos are released into the public domain and can reproduced without permission. So long as the prints being offered are not represented as being endorsed by or originating from NASA, such sales are permitted. That said, since anyone can print from a digital file, I am not sure if there would be a great demand for such prints, unless they are being enhanced in some way. Most of the interest in NASA photos, whether at auctions or in galleries, tend to be on original NASA prints or vintage reproductions. | |
