Is the pictured SpaceShipOne postcard flown?

It is postmarked September 29 2004 and has been signed by Brian Binnie and annotated with the distance. It was one of the extras with Brian's recent book and I assumed was the flown postcard described on his webpage as an extra.

The difference with this postcard from the information on Brian's webpage is that Brian describes the flown postcards as being postmarked Octover 4 2004 whilst this one is postmarked September 29 2004.

I attempted to contact Brian to clarify around 6 weeks ago but haven't had a response.

Any thoughts/information on this would be appreciated.

My copy, #391/500, has the same inscription and signature, but the postmark is Oct 4, 2004. I was disappointed that the card doesn't say "Flown to 70 miles\112km" or something similar instead of just the altitude. I can see that being an authentication problem in the future (and apparently even now).

Shortly after SpaceShipOne won the X-Prize, Scaled put out 199 sets of similar cards that were flown on the final X-Prize flight. Even the cards postmarked for the June 21 and the September 29 spaceflights were all carried on the October 4 flight. So that may explain the difference in cancellation and "flight" dates for the cards that Brian put into his book (I have one of those too).

However, the cards that came out shortly after the X-Prize had blue dots in the lower left corner and a COA from Tonya Rutan to indicate that they were flown. As mentioned above, the card that Brian put in his book does not have any notation that it was actually flown, so who knows?

All times are CT (US)
