A word of caution: While these covers look like they might be a very nice memento of the SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo-2 launch, the postmarks they feature were not issued or applied by the U.S. Postal Service. They are "commemorative" designs created by Rosfila, a Moscow-based philatelic dealer. Neither the dated postmark nor the Kennedy Space Center ink stamp is authentic. 4 covers were sent to the United States by special mail on May 20, 2020. by the US Postal Service. Cancellations are issued as part of the nationwide Launch America campaign. Beyond the fact that on May 20 the launch date was still May 27, one tell-tale sign that this is a false claim is the inclusion of "Endeavour" in the postmark's design. The name was not revealed until late in the day on May 30. Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken made it a point not to tell others of their choice beforehand, including NASA public affairs (who would have also had to approve of the use of the NASA [worm] logotype). |

....and the only stamp on the "launch cover" is a 3 cent stamp. The seller also offered a Russian "cancel" on the same 3 cent US postage stamp. He did manage to sell several sets of these for $70 (7 covers - $10 each). |

Furthermore, the commercial 4-cover or card set has no official postal markings whatsoever. Note that there is no zip code (32815) in the circular "cancel" design, nor the use of the word "Station" as required for all USPS government-approved pictorial cancellations. You can't use without permission the NASA "worm" design, the Kennedy Space Center/DNPS graphics and the "SpaceX" company logo as it appears in this reference. Bottom line, there is so much wrong with the Russian-produced 3-cent" card sets. |

Thanks for posting this. Dieter Falk from Switzerland was the first to alert me about this dubious type of space covers. For comparison, perhaps Ken could share an image of a "real" cover postmarked at KSC for this historic first launch? | |
