I was recently contacted by a friend, not knowledgeable in space autographs, and prevented him from dumping a few grand on these too items.

First, I'd like anyone's opinion who'd like to throw in. This is a fun exercise in spotting fakes as there's more than simply bad signatures.

And, secondly — please pass the word, if you see these on — to run away as fast as you can.

I have seen many similar Armstrong forgeries. The forger is getting bolder.

Where were these being sold? eBay? Or a dealer?

No, Chuck, none are authentic in my opinion.

An online auction dealer - I don't want to mention they're name - they do mostly rock and roll (and those are bad).

I think we can all agree they're fakes. There's one thing I noticed I wonder if anyone else did? Nothing to do with the signature style.

Thanks — this can be fun. And please spread the word!

I didn’t realise Michael Collins was on Apollo VI.

Actually, at Monday's signing event, we noticed that Collins' XI is starting more often to look like VI. The crossing point on the X is very low, and then the underscoring line blocks enough of the bottom to make it appear to be a V.

How many people noticed the Jim Irwin in silver Sharpie? He died well before the silver Sharpie came out.

Well James Lenin signed the second, but not the first.

All times are CT (US)
