I was looking at this light box display of a 70mm transparency on eBay. The price seems a little high for one photo.I would have thought there would be hundreds of these made. Or is this a rare valuable item? Thoughts? |

It is neither. Opportune profiteering on the back of the 50th anniversary in my opinion. |

From the letter sent by "University Archives" and noted in the seller's provenance "Furthermore, it has been represented to me, and I have no reason to question the representations, that this film is second generation* very limited in quantity non duplicable in this form and quality." Also the eBay description and the "Certificate of Authenticity" both mention "2nd generation." *Second generation would mean that this is a copy of the flown original. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if the 70mm slide is similar to these also on eBay, which are selling for $24.95. Agree with Rick, adding the patch, postcard, printed note and lightbox brings the fair market value of this piece closer to $75 not $975. |

It's interesting how you can see the spacing between the two Hasselblad frames in the transparency. Would second generation not mean it's two generations away from the original? Original -> first gen dube neg/trans -> Second gen dube neg/trans. Most films I see on eBay are 2nd and 3rd generation, like these. |
