I have a red numbered NASA photo of a "Approach and Landing Test" patch from the shuttle Enterprise. Stapled on one side is a strip of paper with 4 colors on it with a hand written number beside each color. They all say PMS over a number. I have several other red number "patch" photos but none like this. It seems to be a concept photo. Has any one ever seen this before, or can tell me what it is? Thanks in advance. |

NASA glossies were in part created for press distribution and reproduction. While most newspapers were black and white, magazines often needed four-color separations, or CMYK or PMS (Pantone Matching System) color values in order to reproduce the art in their layouts — which is very likely the reason for the attached strip. |

Wow very interesting, Thank you for sharing your considerable knowledge. I wonder how it would compare in desirability to say a red letter "A Kodak Paper" Apollo (other than 11) lunar photo. This patch photo is also on A Kodak Paper. I ask because I am going to be putting this and several other red and black letter photos, mainly from Apollo 8, 12 and 15 on eBay for auction and am trying to educate myself on NASA photos of the era. Thanks again for your time. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. |

It would be very unlikely to have ALT photographs on A KODAK PAPER as that type of paper was phased out in 1972 several years before the ALT program was flown. Are you sure you do not have artist concept photographs? |
