A Secondary Recovery Ship (SRS) for Scott Carpenter's Mercury flight sold on eBay for $70 after registering 29 bids. The cachet is a mimeo document text. Am I missing something? Is there something great about this envelope? Ross Smith on his excellent website says USS Fred T. Berry was on station but doesn't suggest it is rare or valuable. Ideas? |

David, you are correct. There is nothing special about this cover. It doesn't even have one of the desirable cachets such as Goldcraft. It's worth about what d***a bid ($10.50). If you look at the bidding, except for the one bid from d***a, all the bids are from only two bidders. Shows what can happen when two bidders really want a cover. Thanks for mentioning my website. | |
