Any opinions on the Anders signature on my Apollo 8 crew signed cover?

I always thought it was authentic (purchased it in a Superior auction in the 90s), but then I noticed Autopen Pattern 6 for Anders at Chris Spain's Astronaut Autopen Guide website. When I look at mine closely with a magnifying glass, it does not appear to be an autopen, but the match with the pattern is pretty darn close.

Yes, unfortunately, it's an autopen of Apollo 8's LMP.

That's kinda what I figured, Ken. I don't mind so much that I bought it through a reputable auction house — I just wish I would have known sooner, since they are much more expensive now that I need to replace it.

Unfortunately this is just one example of certainly a large number of misrepresented autograph material (autopens, forgeries) that Superior Stamp and Coin sold over many years that many collectors are stuck with.

All times are CT (US)
