Years ago I purchased from Novaspace Ron Evans flown 32oz In Suit Drink bag that he used during the Apollo 17 mission and on his spacewalk. Janet Evans sold some of Ron's rarest artifacts that were stored in a bank box. The latex drink bag hardened over the years and when she moved it, the bag shattered into hundreds of pieces. You can see the bag, straw and mouthpiece on an old website I posted a few of my pieces.
In the next year or so I'm going to use the pieces of the broken drink bag to embed into a lucite display. I would appreciate your input and tell me what features you like and what you don't. Feel free to send me an email if you don't want to post here.
My initial design is to have a 1" thick by 5 to 6" wide lucite in the profile of the Apollo CSM, with the drink bag chips in the engine bell or CM area. The lucite would have a two-sided photo of Ron Evans during his spacewalk and the back a photo of the original drink bag with the description and provenance.
The reason I like this design is that you can display it on the engine bell or on it's side, it's an unusual shape and the drink bag pieces would be visible on both sides.
I didn't want this to be a typical slant top cylinder, pyramid or rectangle. Let me know what you think and please feel free to share any ideas you have to make it a unique tribute to the Apollo 17 mission.
