A while back I purchased a group of Mercury covers, some authentically signed (Glenn, Carpenter) and some clearly autopens (Grissom, Schirra, Cooper, and Slayton) and one I can't find any autopen example of (Alan Shepard), although after careful examination it has the look and "feel" of an autopen to me. It is not one of the four autopen patterns of Shepard on the AstroAutopens site. Is there any known Shepard autopen patterns other than the four listed? It also does not match any of the secretarial examples, and has the signature "look" of an authentic Shepard.

It looks like Pattern 3 to me.As the site notes, covers are subject to (sometimes major) variations due to their size, as they had a tendency to move while the machine was operating. But with the shape of the comma, the loop of the A and the looped and farther away d, it looks (to me) like a match to Pattern 3. | |
