Topic: Value of 1960s Astronaut Autographs?

This is my first post here and I will admit I know very little about space related items. A friend of mine is considering selling the signed pieces you see below. One of his wife's relatives worked at the Waldorf-Astoria in the 1960s and obtained all of these in person. I assume he can get more money by breaking up the group but it would be nice to keep them together. Do you think these should be consigned to an auction house or is eBay a proper venue? Opinions on value would be greatly appreciated.

Whichever you choose, eBay or auction house, I would recommend breaking up the collection. There would be nothing lost to posterity, and your friend would certainly make more money that way. If you or your friend know eBay, you should probably use that for about half of them, like the Carpenter and Gordon. There are three I'd suggest consigning: the two Apollo 8 items and the Grissom/Young. There are forgeries of those signers out there, so people would be more reluctant to bid on eBay, and more willing to bid high if an auction house is vouching for them. |

You may get more at an auction house but they take a much larger percentage too, from buyer and seller.

Thank you for the input so far. I have been buying and selling on eBay for nearly 15 years so I could certainly go that route. I figured the earthrise photos are the most valuable of the pieces. I did see that one sold on eBay for $3,500 but those signatures were on the photo itself as opposed to this example where the signatures are opposite the photo. Is it fair to say that my friend's piece is worth around $2,500? |

Great pieces. And Vice-President Lyndon Johnson has signed the Glenn/Shepard card.
