I am a vintage telescope collector and was in an antique store recently looking to see if they had any old telescopes. They did and I also saw a framed picture of Harrison Schmitt's "earth, flag" picture on the wall. It is signed and I picked it up for a wall decoration. I am not an autograph collector and know very little about the hobby.

The signature looks like an actual signature, not a copy but again, I'm not sure. I looked at comparisons of his known signature and to my untrained eye it looks good but again not sure. Was wondering if someone knowledgeable could look at it and see what you think. I realize that it can't be authenticated online but could it possibly be determined that it could be real.

Thanks for looking. I'm trying figure out how old the picture might be also. The font used for "NASA" suggests between '75 and '92. If the signature is real, it could have been signed anytime I guess.

For what it's worth, I have an Alan Shepard b/w photo with the NASA worm logo on the front but a "vintage" back — a Washington, DC two-digit code used before the advent of zip codes. So sometimes the NASA logo can be a confusing identifier.

All times are CT (US)
