This has been in my collection since the late 1990's.

I obtained it through the mail a few weeks before Alan Shepard's death. I know he sometimes sent secretarials, so any opinions on the signature's authenticity would be appreciated.

I'm not the expert here, but I'd be shocked if this were inauthentic. The "D" seems abnormally large but I don't think inauthenticity is the reason for that.

Besides just looking like a genuine signature on the whole, I've also never seen a secretarial that mimicked the line break in the "h" loop, or the way the "ar" meanders in a downward angle (though my experience is limited).
