I am after a photo Gene Cernan's Gemini 9 EVA. I can only find one on the NASA Human Space Flight site, but is it reversed?

As far as I can tell the U.S. flag should be on his left arm but here it's on his right. On Wikipedia the same image seems to be the correct way round, so am I missing something? Bit of advice would be very helpful.

The Wikipedia image is the correct one, with the flag on the left shoulder. More Cernan EVA images can be seen in frames S66-38510 to 38518 in the "March to the Moon" Gemini 9A gallery.

Flag is always on the left arm, I can't explain the reverse image, but the patch is on the left.

The original image is reversed because Stafford shot the photo through a mirror. The image shows Cernan at the back of the Gemini spacecraft and the only way the Stafford could view him was through a mirror.

So, the photo in its original version is reversed.

Stafford is not photographing through a mirror. Cernan is at the nose of the Gemini, as reflected in his visor. So he is outside of Stafford's hatch window.

A mirror was mounted to the docking bar so that Stafford could see Cernan in the adapter area. But it was too small to give a full frame view of Cernan. (Other photos on the web such as S66-38053 show this mirror, as well as photos taken by Cernan from the nose area of the Gemini, probably at the time the Cernan photo was taken.)

You can see the mirror below his left hand. Turn the photo 90 degrees counter-clockwise to see the docking bar vertical.

I own that image with red NASA serialization and signed by Gene Cernan that I obtained from Farthest Reaches. It appears to be the correct configuration. He still has one available signed "spacewalk from hell."

Sometimes the print is a mirror image depending on how the negative or transparency was oriented when the print was made. I have gotten quite a few mirror images from the NASA photographic contractor back in the day. Unless there's lettering or a flag or other tell in the photo, it can be difficult to pick out the mirrors.
