It's been brought to my attention that one of my Apollo 11 crew patch replicas was sold on eBay yesterday 321891963426 in what appears to be a deliberately misleading way.The patch was sold alongside a vintage Apollo 11 patch and described as likely dating to 1969-1975.
Surprisingly the back of the patch was shown in the listing but the photo was taken in such a way that the plastic backing was not visible.
More importantly, the AB Emblem sticker that's on the reverse of all my replica patches is missing from the patch. This must have been removed deliberately and carefully since these stickers are located under the plastic backing.
Also, the tail has apparently been trimmed away deliberately.
I had always thought my replicas were pretty safe from being mistaken for originals, mainly due to my deliberate use of plastic backings but this proves that deliberate deception is still possible so buyer beware.
I should note that the seller bought this replica patch from me back in April 2014 and this is the only one of my patches they bought as far as I know.
