This Harrison Schmitt signed copy of "Return to the Moon" looks like a candidate for the Hall of Shame. I rarely see bad fakes in a signed book, but I can't see any way this one is authentic. |

Yeah, it's bad. The seller's name seems to fit. |

Hmmm... I don't know. Tough to tell for sure, but it looks like it could just be a hurried signature to me.... |

I see what you mean, but I feel certain it is bad. The signature placement is another clue, all of the authentic signed books I've seen have had a different (and consistent) signature placement. |

Honestly, it's not that far off from a copy I had signed in person a year and a half ago, other than placement. I could see it being a legitimate rushed signature. |

My vote goes to rushed signature. I don't think someone would take the time to forge a Schmitt book. Photo or cover maybe, but not a book. |

Not true — a well-known eBay forger has sold several copies of Harrison's "signed" book over the years. She makes a tidy sum (~$150 or so) on each book, and most people are none the wiser. A forger who specializes in more desirable (and expensive) items faces a higher hurdle — the buyers are likely to be more well-educated, and better able to spot fakes. Bottom feeders will forge anything that will get them a few bucks... |
