I've always wanted a shuttle tire artifact, but was wondering the validity of this STS-27 and STS-28 tire artifact. Thanks!

My guess is that Paul Hartunian bought a larger tire segment from Ken Havekotte, who had (and may still have) chunks of nose gear flown on STS-27 and STS-28 available for sale a couple of years ago.

If you want more than just a sliver, you might reach out to Ken, as his prices were reasonable and the tire pieces were substantial.
