I wondered if any of the international members of the forum had gained any success in shipping books or other items from the NASA history office outside of the Continental USA?
I don't expect I'll be across the Atlantic and in the vicinity of Washington DC for at least another 18 months but there are a few things I'd very much like to get hold of a copy of. I'm aware that this doesn't generally happen but I wondered if anyone had found a mechanism to facilitate this?

Although our own Royal Mail has had price increases, USPS is unfortunately even more expensive. Very often the shipping is the same cost or more than the item being ordered.
If you are going over in 18 months and not in a hurry I'd ask them to hold the books for you, or "bite the bullet" and pay the shipping fees?

It can be worthwhile exploring Amazon and second hand book marketplaces like alibris.co.uk.
I've purchased US based books from both of them and only paid the standard UK postage. My guess is they just bung them all in one container at a bulk discount. They take a while but they get here.

The problem with that is that "officially" the History Office does not ship internationally. I was wondering if any international collectSPACE members had found an innovative way around this problem... be quite happy to at least get a quote on shipping fees if it was a viable option.
