I recently found a number of space shuttle patches while clearing out a house (the shuttle program patch and the first 25 flights). The STS-61A patch has signatures and a date on them (see front back signature).

I think the first signature is Reinhard Furrer, no idea who the second is. Could you help me with that?

Also, since I don't have any interest in keeping them and therefore want to sell them: How much would that patch be worth as well as the rest (which was probably bought before or on 21.06.1986, which is the date next to the two signatures). Thanks in advance.

I was thinking the second one could be Ernst Messerschmid, but it doesn't match up to the signature example I have.

By the way, the patch sticker is wrong: Mission 61A was a Challenger, not a Columbia flight.

I'm not sure it is a second signature. Maybe some information Furrer wanted to convey. It looks like it was written by the same hand.

I agree the second one (the middle one) looks like a date - 21.6.86, possibly 21 June 1986. I'm not sure what it references, but according to a New York Times article, it appears to be the decision to launch a shuttle mission from Vandenberg (then under construction) back to Cape Canaveral.

All times are CT (US)
