A question on behalf of Ken Willoughby: As long as he is able to bring Apollo astronauts to Space Lectures events he will continue to do so. But the time when they will no longer be available for one reason or another will soon be upon us; perhaps another year or two.Who then would people like to see and hear when that time comes? |

Can I make a plea for Richard Truly. One of the first to fly the shuttle and a former NASA Administrator.

In decreasing order of age: Joe Engle (cheating I guess), Story Musgrave, Sergei Krikalev, Chris Hadfield and Chris Ferguson.I'd try to make the trip over for any of them. |

If I may throw my four penneth worth in I would like to see Joe Engle, Alexei Leonov, Valentina Tereshkova, Chris Ferguson, Scott Altman, Story Musgrave, Chris Hadfield and Jerry Ross. For practical reasons the oldest first and then descending order by age. |

Hadfield would be the big money draw for many people, and as possibly the most well known of modern astronauts as far as the general public goes I think it would gain good publicity for the lecture series- I'd certainly like to chat with him, he could autograph my guitar!I'd also like to add a vote for Cosmonauts - it would be interesting to hear their side of the space race story. |

I was only thinking about this the other day so I'm glad this thread came up.I saw Chris Hadfield in Monmouth in December where he gave a great talk which included his guitar — so two for the price of one! Mike Mullane would be another excellent guest as would Story Musgrave. I do like to meet and hear from the female shuttle astronauts too, Julie Payette for example I found very interesting and inspiring. |

While I would like to meet any astronaut, and any of the above suggestions would be top of my wish list, I would also include; Guion Bluford, Norman Thagard, Shannon Lucid, Franklin Chang Díaz and Kathryn Sullivan. |

Michael Collins (would mean I have met entire Apollo 11 crew), Dave Scott, Harrison Schmitt (never met him), Cernan (again) and Leonov (does he speak any English?). |

It's easily done and I am as guilty as the next; Apollo14LMP has summed up my current wish list perfectly... but we are getting away from the premise of the thread. It is a given that Ken Willoughby will continue to try and land some of the named Apollo guys while they are still willing to travel. But who or what then? |

I would suggest any shuttle astronaut. How many of them come over from the US? - and keep in mind that they're getting up there in age as the M/G/A/S astronauts, where they either don't travel and/or stop signing. |

I can think of a few EVA pairs (and trios) that if booked together might attract an Apollo astronaut-size crowd. For example, James "Ox" van Hoften and George "Pinky" Nelson sharing their Solar Max stories would make for a great evening. Likewise, Story Musgrave and Don Peterson discussing the first shuttle EVA, or Pierre Thout, Rick Hieb and Tom Akers recounting the only three-man spacewalk in history would be something I'd consider flying over to attend. Granted, organizing multiple guests for one event would be more complicated, but I think it could make for a great draw if possible. |

Helen Sharman, maybe even Sergei Krikalev to hear some of the great MIR stories, and the evolution of Space Stations from Mir to ISS. |

Michael Foale and Vasily Tsibliyev would make for a fantastic double team, the tales from Mir are about as exciting as they come, I'd definitely make a trip over to hear those guys speak! |

I've always found the cosmonauts tremendous. I've met Leonov twice (he was good form both times), Tereshkova, Bykovsky, Kubasov (sadly no longer with us) and a great many more at various Autographica's when Rex Hall was doing such a great job organising things. Had the best lengthy conversations with Tereshkova (at the signing table, at least 15 minute conversation), Bykovsky (lengthy discussion in the bar, little English but we made ourselves understood) and probably my favourite, Vladimir Dzhanibekov. It was like talking to an old friend, such a warm and friendly guy.Would love to meet Crippen, Engle, Truly, Musgrave from the early shuttle missions... and any of the Russians. |

I agree with Derek that Crippen, Engle, Truly and Musgrave would each be a terrific choice. My personal preference is Joe Engle as would love to meet the only surviving X-15 pilot and what a story he has to tell over his time in Apollo and the space shuttle.A pair who would create great interest would be Hoot Gibson and his wife Rhea Seddon. I saw them at Autographica last year and think they would go down very well in particular at the schools the guests attend. Another would be Jeffrey Hoffman who I remember Ken saw as well in Leicester in December 2011. He gave a very good talk about his EVA to help repair the Hubble Space Telescope and also with an emphasis on the future of space flight which again I think would be appreciated in the schools. Also with his British origins Michael Foale would be another good candidate to speak to us. I'm positive whoever Ken and his team get we will be in for a very special event. |

I agree with the Michael Foale suggestion. He was excellent at his talk up in Durham last year. Continuing the British connection I'd also suggest Piers Sellers, Nicholas Patrick and of course Helen Sharman and Tim Peake (when he gets back). |
