First post in this forum. In fact, I never considered myself a space collector until about 12 hours ago.

I received today a box of technical documents from 78-84, that belonged to my grandfather. He spent several decades working on the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs, eventually retiring from Rockwell International in the mid-80s. His final job was as the mid-body supervisor for the orbiter.

In going through this box, I found work schedules, technical drawings (with exploded diagrams), and a few notebooks with his personal handwritten notes documenting work being done on OV-102 (Columbia). In all, there are a couple hundred pages of absolutely fascinating stuff.

I think my personal favorite is an orbiter outline, with handwritten temperatures all over the diagram. According to the label on the page(s), these are the external temperatures recorded all over the orbiter during STS-1 re-entry.

Anyhow, I intend to keep nearly all of this stuff, but I would like to see about getting it appraised just for informational (and possibly insurance?) purposes. In all my "Googling" tonight, this forum kept looking like it was the right place to turn for help in figuring out where to turn next.

Any advise on how to go about getting these items appraised? I'll happily provide whatever additional info is needed to assist others in pointing me in the right direction. I've seen some cool things in my several decades, but this box contains some of the coolest stuff I've ever come across.

Thank in advance for any assistance/info!

All times are CT (US)
