I recently acquired, from an estate sale, a framed painting (print?) of the MOL capsule in orbit surrounded by multiple signatures that do not appear to be the proposed crew. I would imagine they might be the engineers or other crew.

I live in Los Angeles and tried to approach the Space and Aviation portion of the local Science Center to find out more info since extent of my research capabilities has hit a dead end. However, I have not yet received any response. I wonder if the community here could give me some insight or advice.

I have posteda few pictures below of the item (note: the smudge on the first one is where the estate sale wrote a price on the glass) Thanks in advance. — Jeremy

These are barely visible, sorry.

Please, if possible, provide not a photo, taken at distance and at an odd angle, but a closeup scan.

The only way to scan it is take it out the frame. I wouldn't want to do that as you risk the possibility of signatures touching the glass and being damaged upon removal.

I wonder if the signatures are workers, co-workers, or friends of whoever the painting was given to. Several of the sigs are first names only: Janet, June, Betty, etc.

Just a thought.

I can make out a few of them but I can't say I recognize the names:

Ted Miller
Phyllis Brown
June Collins
Suzie Moore

And a few of the first names only that Joel mentioned.

If you can figure out a story behind the piece, that might shed more light on it.

Agreed. Have seen a few similarly signed large pieces which were given to employees at the time of their retirement.

All times are CT (US)
