Take a look at item number 121419649884. Is it just me or does that look like a sign from the Mercury astronauts' parking spaces at Launch Pad 14? (I am not the buyer, nor seller.) |

It does and the one on display there now is obviously new.Below are two photos we took back in July 2011. One is Carpenter's and it looks original and the other is Glenn's and it looks new.

I thought the same too. This one auctioned is obviously metal and I just looked at some shots I took the last time I was at the pad and they now look like a thick plastic. |

The seller appears to be a surplus/scrap dealer. Given the wear to the sign, seems feasible that it would have been replaced by CCAFS and the metal sign released for recycling... |

Absolutely! Wasn't suggesting anything nefarious. Just looking to learn if my inclination was correct. |

This seller looks like the real deal because Cooper and Carpenter have just been auctioned. Aside from the Complex 14 treasures, he's also selling some Cape Space Wing signage too.I wonder when the signs on the Mercury parking spaces were changed out? Does anyone have photos of the parking spaces from the 80's or 90's? The ones for sale are quite weathered so perhaps they were changed out within the last few years? |

Could you post a link, or an eBay number, for those other two signs? I searched past sales on eBay and couldn't find them. |

Steve, an easy way to find them is to take the number of the completed auction and pull it up on eBay and then look under his other auctions. |

Oddly enough, the Cooper and Carpenter signs do not come up with the seller's completed sales. But here they are: Cooper and Carpenter. |

Oh man, I just saw these signs. If I would have seen them while they were active on eBay I'd own at least one of them right now.If the winner(s) are on this board and are willing to sell one of them let me know. |

Those signs really are an amazing piece of history for fans of the Complex 14 flights. Glenn was sold first for $66 and the Cooper went for double. Carpenter for nearly triple that! Not sure how to put a value on them but if one wants to own a piece of The Cape, I can't think of many better ways. |
