I saw a Moonwalkers print on eBay that's missing the Dave Scott and John Young signatures. Were any of them sold before all 11 astronauts signed them? Why would the two signatures be missing?

The prints' first round of signings did not include Scott, Young or Schmitt. Novaspace added those three during subsequent signings.

I believe Scott said at one point that he wouldn't be signing it. I remember when I first joined cS reading about how someone color-copied the portion Scott would have signed, sent it in for one of his signings, and then glued it onto the print!

Of course, the prints also did not include Armstrong's signature. (Does anyone know if anybody was ever successful in getting him to sign one of these?)

Just my two cents, I could never get excited about this print. Having that "missing" signature just bugs the heck out of me.

Me too. LOL

Ron Lewis did a series of terrific baseball HOF portraits that make for great signed 8x10s. He was dead on for baseball.

In my opinion, his likenesses of the astronauts are inconsistent. Some are quite good and others not so strong.

This print also suffers from a pretty drab color palette. Given what he did with baseball, it makes one yearn for how much better the moonwalker print could have been. Also, if he had done individual portraits like he did with HOFers, it would have been a fun set to collect.

Just my 2 cents.

The scouts own a donated 9 moonwalker print. Dave Scott signed it at a Rutherford, NJ show. John Young signed it in 2011 at Novaspace. If you go the Novaspace website and click on John Young you can see him signing it.
