Any thoughts on the authenticity of this Armstrong signed stamp? The contrast of the red ink on the stamp is not the best, but the seller has a pretty good reputation.

Was this a good deal for the winning bidder or a $300 "gotcha"?

In my opinion, it is authentic.

As for the seller's reputation, be aware that he occasionally sold questionable Armstrong signatures, in the past.

Was it a good deal? Well, it depends on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay for it. In my view, $300 for such a small signature, with such a bad contrast, is a waste of money. I would use that money as a down-payment for a better signature.

On the other hand, if someone can't afford to pay $700-800 for a signed index card or $1500 for a WSS Inscribed litho, the $300 signed stamp might be a good compromise to get an authentic Armstrong without paying big money.

Just my two cents.
