I just came across this seller with a feedback rating of 9.

I am very skeptical that he is selling items directly. Thought he went through Astronaut Central/Novaspace usually.

Anyone know whats going on here and can confirm.

Yes, that is indeed the authorized eBay account for Jim Lovell.

It works just fine! Capt Lovell's agent (I presume) is very helpful and responsive.

As Robert mentioned, it is the official account. It is managed by his son. I just received a signed poster from him that is for a good friend. Great opportunity to get some great times direct from Capt. Lovell!

I received my photo today only 5 days after winning the auction. It was very sturdily packed and best of all, I had asked him to personalize it when I sent payment and he did!

One good thing - and I have an almost certainty that there's one astronaut who has bought stuff off of me on eBay - is that astronauts who sell stuff on eBay can see what is the market value of their autograph. Perhaps from there, if they decide to go into holding signings where they charge for their signature, they can price accordingly.

It's a nice idea but almost every astronaut would then have to subject themselves to substantial cuts in their signing fees as their "market values" are already well below cost. I may be wrong, but, with one or two exceptions, I don't think they are that interested in sales optimization.

That said, I think the Lovell venture is a good thing as it's a win-win for both parties... cutting out the "middle man."

Plus, if you buy it on eBay, you get a signed photo. If you meet the man in person you get a personal encounter plus a signed photo as a memento of the occasion -- there is value in that personal encounter for most people.
