Is $200 a good price for a Chapman autopen? How rare are the different versions. I have all three.

In my opinion, no.

While Chapman autographs and autopens are less common than they are for the several more famous flown Apollo astronauts, his autopen is likely not significantly more valuable than autopens for his contemporaries.

Also, keep in mind that the market for Philip Chapman items is somewhat limited, as he never flew in space. Only a select portion of the space collecting community is interested in his autograph. And it's an even smaller percentage of collectors who desire his autopen signature.

You may get up to $200 for a genuinely signed (and unpersonalized) WSS litho of Philip Chapman, if the right buyer comes along...since his signature is somewhat uncommon. But $200 for the autopen? It seems highly unlikely. (Note: Not all completed eBay auctions are a reliable indicator of market value. Some sales are simply flukes.)

All times are CT (US)
