For sale are individual plaques of crew patch art for ten early space shuttle missions. These plaques came from the JSC art department in the early 1980s and were extras that were made for production of the trimmed mission plaques that adorn the walls of Mission Control and various NASA offices. Each untrimmed plaque is approximately 16x20 inches and one-half inch thick. The front is a high-resolution photograph of the original hand-made patch art. Since these were made in the early 1980s, the art did not rely on computer graphics. Two photos below show close-up views of the artwork.
There are a few very light surface scratches on the photo paper from 30+ years of storage and handling, but these are only noticeable if you are looking for them and do not distract from the large colorful artwork. These are ideal for display as-is, or you can add patches, pins and other memorabilia to the blank plaque area for an outstanding mission-specific display.
The photographic paper is mounted to one-half inch high-density foamcore and backed with a brown paper and typed label with the mission number. Plaques are available for STS-1, STS-7, STS-8, STS-9, STS-41B, STS-41C, STS-51B, STS-51G, STS-51F, and STS-51I, and are sold individually.
The price for 1 or 2 plaques is $20 each; for 3 to 5 plaques $15 each; for 6 to 10 plaques $12 each -- plus postage below. First come, first served, of course.
Each plaque will be individually wrapped in paper and sent in heavy oversized cardboard to protect it during shipment. U.S. postage for 1 plaque is $12.95; add $4.00 postage for each additional plaque. Foreign postage is $24.95 for 1 plaque and $6.00 postage for each additional plaque. These are my best estimates – if the actual postage for multiple plaques is significantly less to your location (domestic or foreign), I will issue a refund. Local pickup is free if you live in the Houston area. PayPal required.
Questions welcome. Thanks and fly safe!
