Farthest Reaches LLC is excited to be offering courtesy of Dave Scott one of the most historically unique Apollo 15 artifacts we've ever handled. I'm referring to a miniature US flag on beta material that was stashed onto the flight crew's OPS by a JSC Crew Systems Division member and carried unbeknownst to anyone onto the lunar surface for all 3 of that mission's EVAs. In addition it was carried during Apollo 15's record setting deep space walk to retrieve the outboard film canister from the service module!
As far as I'm aware, other than the name tag from Dave Scott's OPS cover, this is the only other item offered for sale thus far that was carried on to the lunar surface as well as into deep space.
This comes in a beautiful framed presentation that includes a photo of Dave Scott exploring the lunar surface and a vintage Apollo 15 A-B mission emblem (initialed on reverse by Dave) that comes from his personal collection.
All of the above is tied together perfectly by the ultimate provenance... a lengthy typed letter hand signed by Dave Scott on his personal stationery.
There are a total of 10 flag/mission patch presentations available and I currently have numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5 available. Number 1 is already taken. At the present time this particular presentation is only being offered through Farthest Reaches LLC.
Items such as this have become extremely difficult to obtain at any reasonable price as the years have gone by and prices are just going up and up. That this comes directly from the astronaut and with iron clad provenance makes it worth it's weight in gold.
I'm happy to answer questions either here or directly (310.892.5150 or steve@farthestreaches.com) should you wish to contact me but if here, please limit questions to this topic only.
I thank you all for the great support as Farthest Reaches approaches its 20th year of quality service to the space collecting community.
