Edward H. White II's personal Gemini orientation papers with exceedingly rare handwritten speech draft introducing White as part of the legendary "New 9" Gemini astronaut recruits. Comes with Certificate of Authenticity from the highly respected Zarelli Space Authentication. Asking $3,000.Two 8.5" x 11" mimeograph sheets from White's Gemini Orientation, October 31 - November 1, 1962): "Astronauts' Gemini Orientation Visit" and "NASA Visit 11-1-62."
These are White's personal papers, and as such are exceedingly scarce, and one-of-a-kind. Truly one of the holy grails of space collecting, likely one of the only copies of the astronaut's actual Gemini orientation program known to exist.
In his introduction written on the reverse of the "NASA Visit 11-1-62" Agenda, White references his personal addition to the New "9" and mentions [his] "personal feeling toward the Titan... rocket, ...in fact you might say a type of attachment like to the nose."
The text of White's actual speech that day is lost to history and these notes are the sole reminder of an incredible era in space exploration — all in the hand of legendary Gemini and Apollo astronaut Edward H. White II (1930-1967).
Papers were discovered tucked inside White's personal copy of his "Aircraft Structures" textbook while a student at the University of Michigan, and even later accompanied White to his Gemini orientation.
