**These lucites now sold **

This lucite sale is for three of the 'wedge' kapton acrylics. Selling individually but will consider offers for the set of three.

I'll take offers for a week and take either the highest offer over the sell price or the first offer that was received at the sell price. If no offer at the sell price is received, I'll consider any lower offers received.

The price at which I will definitely sell the lucites is $300 (Apollo 11) and $290 (Apollo 12) and $290 (Apollo 14).

Shipping cost worldwide $18, includes insurance. Payment via PayPal with buyer meeting fees.

Questions are welcome — please ask and I'll answer as soon as I can. Note that in order to be fair to all parties please send offers to me direct as I don't want to treat this like an auction in order to drive up pricing.

Do you know who produced these and is there any provenance or paperwork included?

These acrylics are nice because they were produced by NASA, or at least contracted out by NASA. I once got a couple from the longtime NASA employee who was given them directly from higher-ups.

Thanks for the question, which I see someone has beaten me to answering. I liked these as they were iron-clad in terms of having a NASA origin. There wasn't any paperwork with them when I purchased.

I have been collecting for many years and also work with the museum and I have not seen any through any NASA source. Do you know when and where they where produced?

I am always cautious with NASA items that seem to be so rare. For concrete provenance they do not show up in any search I can do on the internet or any of the auction records I could find. Any information is appreciated.

I got mine from a man who started work at NASA in 1962. (He was mentioned in some early 1960s issues of "Space News Roundup.") He also had a couple of flown flags on the standard presentations, and a couple of flown hatch plug displays. He said he got them all directly from superiors at NASA.

Thanks again for the questions. When I purchased these they were sold as flown however without rock-solid provenance I haven't listed them as such.

The dimensions are:

  • Inner oval containing kapton 30mm x 25 mm (approximately 1 inch x 1.18 inches)

  • Lucite 100mm x 60mm x 10mm (at highest point; approximately 3.9 x 2.36 x 0.39 inches)

Thanks for the enquiries - the Apollo 14 lucite has sold and the Apollo 11 and 12 lucites remain available.

I'll list a shuttle lucite next — keep an eye out!
