This lucite for sale is the Kansas Cosmosphere Apollo 13 couchpiece presentation. The approach I'm using for the sale of my entire lucite collection is to invite offers for a week but indicate the price at which the item will definitely be sold. The highest offer at or above the sell price at the end of the week will be a guaranteed sale. If I only receive offers below the sell price, I'll take it as a sign that I've overpriced and I'll consider the offers I have to hand. I'm not treating this as an auction so please make offers to me directly. Any questions I'm happy to answer on the board. The sell price for the Apollo 13 couchpiece is $925 with international shipping and insurance for $22. Payment by PayPal please with buyer meeting fees.

I've been working out of town and forgot about this one — I'll close it in 48 hours, and a reminder that I'm open to offers below the sell price. |

Do we get some sort of "proof" or chain of the "bids/offers"? I am one that doesn't want to waste time trying to figure out where the price is and also don't want to overpay for an item that may be worth more to someone else than to me or the market. |

As an impartial observer who knows he can't afford the piece, I feel like you're overthinking it. Personally, I don't see this kind of thing as being any different than the "Best Offer" feature on eBay.If you want it, you say "Hey, here's what I'm willing to pay for it." If the seller is willing to sell it for that amount and nobody offers more, then you get it. If someone offers more or the seller won't let it go for that little, you don't get it. What other people offer is pretty much irrelevant — all that matters is what you're willing to pay for it. It's not about figuring out a price; it's about saying what it's worth to you. If market value is important, it should be researched before entering into any transaction, regardless of the method or the venue. That research always falls to the buyer. Even auctions that claim they do it for you with an "Estimated Value" are often wildly off base (one can find personalized John Glenn autographs from years when he was still signing with reported values in the triple digits). If you want to make sure you don't overpay, that research is unavoidable. |

Thanks for the commentsThe approach I've taken is to say what I'd definitely sell it for on a given day and if there's an appetite for a higher price on someone's part then that's the price it goes for. It's also an effort to avoid the bunch of lowball offers that generally some in when I've offered stuff through the forum before. I don't provide a trail or 'update' of any offers as I see that as being unfair to anyone who puts an offer in that's close to or over the sell price - I'm not running an auction so I'm not trying to push the price up artificially - basically I'm assuming people will offer what they think it's worth to them. OT that end I also don't update anyone who has an offer in that's lower than the highest one I currently have in order to get them to offer a better price. Hope that clarifies things. |

The way to approach a sale like this is to state your sale price with an "or best offer." If someone offers your ask price, then the item should be sold to that person. I think that is the intent of making people post a sale price on here. This is not an auction site. If you say you will sell something for X then you should sell it for X when that is offered. If no one offers that, then if you want, you can take the highest offer. |

Craig ran by his approach by me before he began. He is not running an auction, but he is offering a limited window during which he is accepting best offers, which can always be above, equal to or below his asking price. At the end of the week, he accepts the best offer. |

Reading the comments it makes sense. And to be honest, Craig's (TRS) prices so far on the items (in my opinion) have been great!I didn't mean to stir up the pot, but I have seen these types of sales before on here and I tend to stay away due to the "mystery" of it all. But Craig seems to be trustworthy so I will continue to watch what all is offered. Thanks again. |

Thanks for the robust conversation on this posting, I appreciate that people are asking questions if there's something that concerns them.In response to Skythings - I didn't get the original box when I purchased this unfortunately. The lucite hasn't sold so I'll be listing something new in a week or so. Cheers! |
