The Atlas-Centaur space launch vehicle from General Dynamics, first launched in 1962, carried the Surveyor probes to the moon.I have for sale a Topping contractors model of the "Atlas-Centaur Space Launch Vehicle" produced for General Dynamics. It is over two feet tall and in excellent condition. Here is the entire model: A close-up of the nameplate: The foot-long Atlas booster: |

And the foot-long Centaur. Please notice that the white finish has come off on two small spots, which should easy to fix. The other side of the Atlas... And the other side of the Centaur: The vehicle, by the way, got its name in recognition of the mythological half-man-half-horse: the "workhorse" Atlas launch vehicle represented the horse portion, while the payload represented the more intelligent human part. I can find no record of a sale of this same model. It is quite rare and extraordinary. In fact very few Atlas contractors models of any kind have sold in the last few years. I sold on eBay last year a bent, discolored General Dynamics Atlas contractors model, with a scratched base and missing the Mercury capsule, for $250. Please let me know if you are interested. |
