I've been looking to buy a piece of tire for a long time and found one on eBay, see this thread in the Opinions and Advice. However, it's very small and would like a somewhat larger piece. Thanks again! |

Do you have a preference for flown or unflown? |

Either, but flown would be cool. Would you have documentation? |

I will echo Robert Pearlman. I purchased several pieces large and small of the flown STS 27/28 nose gear tire from Ken Havekotte and he includes a very nice package of provenance information. If I am not mistaken these are the same pieces in the ASF Artifact Series flown on Atlantis STS-27 and Columbia STS-28 signed and certified by Robert "Hoot" Gibson. I saw Ken today and he still has an extremely large piece left (about 10-15% of the tire) but its a bit out of my price range. If you need Ken's contact information just e-mail me I will be happy to provide it. |

A big thanks to Jason and Chuck for the shuttle orbiter tire interest (and Phil via email) and referral, also, to Robert P. for a recent email referral as well. There are pieces and larger segments of the same flown STS-27/28 nose gear tire referred to here available from my firm. Let me try to provide some photo-scans of the tire sections available along with special asking prices for cS members. Thanks guys! |

Ken et al, I saw to the lucite STS-27/28 from a Google search and that's a large size! If you have something smaller that's great too, I'm not picky! Thanks again! |

Will have more info about the shuttle tires and their availability later in the month as I am currently tied up with other pressing projects. In the meantime, let me thank everyone for their interest and patience with me on this topic. More will be coming soon. |

I know this time of year is busy for most along with the ASF Space Rendezvous next month, but thought to circle back to this request. Just wondering if there's an update. Thanks! |

I don't want to put any more pressure on Ken, but I just want to let him know that he can add me to his list of those interested in this. Thanks. |

For mikepf and others; Thanks for the continued interest in the flown shuttle tire section. A large segment from it has already been cut into pieces, however, I am hoping to display most of them along with a suitable COA on an appropriate plaque of some kind. I'll post back here when the tire presentations are completed and available. For Gtspace; I'll need more time to work on the cS "goodie boxes." I've been so busy with other space work projects, and as you can see from the shuttle tire project, I've had some of those requests on the back burner so-to-speak. Hopefully by the first of the year I can put all the current projects to a final rest and start working on revised and new ones.

Ken, thank you again for working on the tire project and possible a "goodie pack;" both are extremely generous! I'll be standing by for further instruction once you have the opportunities ready.By the way, would the "pack" be a program themed one like Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, or Space Shuttle? Or maybe Ares or Orion? A HUGE Thanks again! |

I want to circle back around on this topic. Although, Ken has been extremely busy and prepared several lots for recent auctions I wanted to pass along that a few of us are still interested in the tire artifact and any "goodie packs." I didn't know if this was on anyone's radar, but we would be extremely grateful if such request would be made possible. |

Hey guys! Still behind with working on an appropriate presentation display for the flown shuttle nose gear tire segments.Have been extremely busy working on several recent space projects since last year, which included an Apollo 10 orbital film project, MR-3/Freedom 7's launch pad umbilical cable, another special Kapton project (2), a flown rocket mail cover, and just finished up with a 3-piece acrylic production that includes an actual flame trench fire brick section from Launch Complex 39 in 1969. Two more other projects are now in the works, however, at this time I am trying to examine and review some proposals for the orbiter tire segments, but nothing is hitting me the right way in going forward with it. But always, though, I am thinking about a design idea-project and hopefully something will develop soon that I'll be happy with. |

Thanks Ken for the update, I really appreciate you circling back! I know you've been really busy and seen some of the pieces you mentioned on the recent auctions. I'd like to get your tire fragment instead of one sliver that is being offered elsewhere. I'll standby if you do decide to take the tire fragment as a project. |
