Unique, one of a kind personal patch flown to the moon in the command module by commander James Lovell aboard Apollo 13. A 3.125" diameter embroidered patch in gold over black picturing a stylized Nyala Antelope in the center of the design. Safrique was the largest hunting safari organization in central Mozambique during the early-1970s era, a period in which the country was in great turmoil, fighting for freedom against the Portuguese regime. Safrique ceased operations in 1974 when independence was finally won. James Lovell was a safari enthusiast and went on multiple big game hunts in this African country — see attached images of Jim and his wife on the hunt at Safrique. |

I am not sure but would James Lovell say stored in the commander's PPK or stored in my PPk? Just seems like strange wording to me. Also does he usually add his mission numbers or at least his position on that mission? I am not an expert by any means but this does not look right to me. |

He would, and he did. There have been only two owners of this patch -- Lovell and myself. I acquired it directly from Lovell, who consigned it to Heritage in 2009. I have added a photo of the patch, which I took with Lovell after buying it and discussing the patch with him at an ASF event, to the listing. Anyone is welcome to discuss the patch with Lovell and his wording, if they have a problem with it. |

Good luck with the sale. It's a terrific patch with, in my opinion, no authenticity questions. |

It did not sell at the opening price. So I have relisted it at a fixed price — but with the option to make a best offer. This is an amazing, one of a kind piece from one of the iconic Apollo missions. Looking for a good home! |

A little over one day left on this auction. Last chance to make an offer, and then this goes back in the collection and off the market. Thanks for looking! |

I have relisted this unique, flown Apollo 13 personal safari patch from Jim Lovell with a very attractive buy-it-now price (especially considering its one-of-a-kind nature). Best offers also being considered. If you've always wanted to own a significant item flown on Apollo 13, this could be it. |
