SOLD These large (20x24") charts were produced before each lunar Apollo mission. They are "roadmaps in space", showing to scale the distances that would be covered, the sizes of the moon and Earth, and the timing of each step of the mission. Here is the one made for Apollo 10. I'm sorry the photo is not fantastic – the actual item is bright white. One sold at auction recently for $160. (It had some edge faults that extended into the chart itself.) Another, signed by mission commander Thomas Stafford, sold for $874! This one is $150. And here is the one for Apollo 11, with a close-up.
Two of them each sold at auction recently for $270. Both had condition issues: one with some edge faults and waviness from rolled storage, and some discoloration in the bottom right corner, and the other was still folded into eighths. Mine was folded, but I had it flattened by a professional paper conservator. There are faint stains on the verso that just show through at two small parts of the edge, away from the image. (Note that you can't even see those stains in the photo.) It is $225. Finally, I have one from Apollo 15. As you can see, it still has folding creases. As an interesting price comparison, an auction lot of an Apollo 10 and an Apollo 15 chart together sold for $526. This one is $125. ALL SOLD Shipping (in a tube) for any of these will be an additional $15. |
