As you might know, Gemini and Apollo astronaut Michael Collins is a Renaissance man who has enjoyed painting landscapes and still lifes for years. Here is one of his better paintings, which I purchased several years ago directly from Novaspace Galleries. It is entitled "Surf Girl", and while it would be a genuinely attractive picture no matter who painted it, the fact that it was carefully done by Apollo 11's Command Module Pilot makes it extraordinary. There are thousands of Collins-signed photos out there, but this painting would be a completely unique addition to your "items from astronauts" collection.  (Sorry the photo is a little crooked – it was hard to avoid glare from my flash and shadows from me.)  
It has been archivally framed to a size of 17x21". The painting itself is 12x16".  Three or four new Collins paintings were recently added to the Novaspace website. They are all $1249, like this one. The price for this one is $850, plus $40 for carefully-packaged Priority Mail shipping. If you absolutely can't make a single full payment but could pay in two monthly installments, please let me know. After a few days, if no one has offered to buy it outright, I'll accept that offer. I also have a copy of his book Carrying the Fire, which he signed in person at the National Air and Space Museum in 2009.  Such paperback copies tend to sell for about $295. The price for this one is $195, shipping included. |
