As we get closer to publishing a very revised Farthest Reaches site (front page needed to be dc'd for a variety of reasons), business continues as usual. I am listing some very interesting astronaut pwned artifacts that will eventually be posted the site, should they not be sold first.

Here are some samples of what is available at this time not previously posted to Farthest Reaches. Today we will start with some pieces from the Schirra collection:

  1. Complete set of Flown Fiteline Sterling Silver Medallions encased in a lucite display on a wood base with plaque. Only 26 of these sets were produced, each given to a Gemini Astronaut and a few for special individuals such as Charles Matthews, Gemini Project Manager. This is the third one I've handled and this one on behalf of the Schirra Family. This set seldom becomes available and comes with a COA hand signed by Schirra's daughter, Suzanne. Priced at $15,000.

  2. Flown 10K ASTP Robbins Medallion (08F) with plastic case. This exceedingly rare and sought after medallion is one of only 8 that were produced and flown for the Mercury Astronauts by Deke Slayton. This one is in mint condition with it's #08 corresponding to Wally's MA-8 Mercury Flight. This is only the 3rd I've seen for sale. The first being Deke's, the second being Scott Carpenter's (sold by Farthest Reaches) and now Wally's. Priced at $22,000.

  3. Figurine of Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck parading down Main Street playing instruments with brass plaque that reads, "Saluting America's First Astronaut Team... Fifteenth Anniversary 1959-1974... Wally Schirra.... Walt Disney World". RARE and beautiful. Must be seen to be appreciated. Price: Make Offer

  4. Book: "The Art of Walt Disney"by Christopher Finch, published 1973, First Edition/First Printing, HC, 458 pages. This very oversized beautiful coffee table book is hand signed on the front free endpapers by all six surviving Mercury Astronauts and their wives as well as Betty Grissom, Dee O'Hara, Bill Douglas and wife and Henri Landwirth (Holiday Inn Coco Beach Hotel Owner/Friend). It was obtained on the occasion of the dedication of Space Mountain in Florida. Priced at $1200.
More items will be listed tomorrow. For additional information and/photos sent via email, please contact me at steve@farthestreaches.com or call 310.892.5150 (cell). Thanks as always for your continued support. — Steve Hankow

Another item added from the Schirra Collection:
  1. Moon Shot by Alan Shepard - First Edition/First Printing. Schirra's personal copy inscribed to "Skyray... This is the real stuff!... Alan B." This copy is also hand signed and colorfully inscribed to Wally by James Lovell, Stu Roosa, Ed Mitchell, Al Worden, Rusty S. (who writes, "Wally, I learned at the knees of the master!", Alan Bean, James McDivitt, Walt Cunningham (who writes, "Wally, we did it right the first time!") and Richard Gordon. Beautiful inscriptions, awesome condition. The astronaut's personal copy containing the signatures of the entire Apollo 14 crew and others. Priced at $1100.
